North Tripura: In an effort to apprehend and prevent the illegal transportation of banned products a joint operation was organized with the Border Security Force (BSF) along the state’s border with Assam. During the operation the police have recovered 197 kilograms of dry marijuana (ganja) from an ambulance that was involved in transporting illegal product. Mr. Krishnadhan Sarkar, officer-in-charge of the Kadamtala police station said on Sunday that they had received specific information about an ambulance that was being used for the past few days for the illegal transportation of ganja. On spotting the vehicle it was asked to stop and on checking the vehicle it was found that the packets of dry ganja were hidden in various cavities in the vehicle. The weight of the recovered ganja is 197 kilogram. He added saying that when the vehicle was intercepted the driver and other occupants of the ambulance managed to flee. A case has been registered and a search operation has been initiated to trace and apprehend the accused. ]]>
