Dibrugarh, Assam: In a significant push toward ensuring a drug-free district, Dibrugarh Police have successfully detected three separate cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in the last four days. The cases were registered under Lahowal, Barbaruah and Namrup Police Stations as part of the district’s intensified crackdown on drug trafficking and abuse.
According to police sources, the recent operations were conducted based on sustained intelligence inputs and continuous surveillance to curb the rising movement of illegal narcotics in the region. Each of the three cases led to the recovery of suspected contraband substances, and several individuals have been detained for interrogation. The seized items have been sent for forensic examination as part of the ongoing legal procedures.
A senior police official from the district stated that the anti-drug operations will not slow down. “Our drive against drugs will continue with firm commitment. The police have also appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing information related to drug peddling, assuring that identities of informers will be kept confidential. Authorities emphasized that community participation remains one of the strongest tools in combating the menace of drugs, especially among vulnerable youth.
Over the past months, Dibrugarh district has witnessed a series of coordinated enforcement actions aimed at dismantling drug networks and preventing the spread of substance abuse. The latest detections further underscore the administration’s commitment to safeguarding the health and safety of the people.
