Medchal–Malkajgiri, Telangana: In a significant breakthrough, the Jawaharnagar Police have successfully solved a brutal murder case of a 40-year-old woman, Smt. Anju D.R., a resident of Kowkoor, who had been reported missing in May 2025.
The case, initially registered as a “woman missing” complaint, took a serious turn during the course of investigation. Acting on suspicion, police detained the prime accused, Monti Kumar Singh (22), a driver and native of Bihar, who later confessed to the crime.
Investigations revealed that the accused was in a relationship with the deceased’s minor daughter. The deceased had strongly opposed the relationship due to her daughter being underage and due to caste differences. Holding a grudge, the accused, along with the minor, allegedly conspired and executed the murder on May 12, 2025.
As per the confession, the accused hid inside the victim’s residence and, upon her return, stabbed her to death with a knife, while the minor assisted in restraining her. The duo then attempted to destroy evidence by concealing the body under the floor inside the house after cleaning the crime scene.
Based on credible evidence, the police exhumed the body in the presence of officials, and postmortem examination was conducted by experts from Osmania General Hospital. Subsequently, relevant sections of law were invoked, converting the case into a murder investigation.
Both the accused, including the minor, have been taken into custody and produced before the court for judicial remand. Police also recovered the weapon used in the crime (knife).
The successful detection of the case was carried out under the supervision of senior officers, including Deputy Commissioner of Police Sri Ch. Sridhar, IPS, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Sri Chakrapani, along with the dedicated efforts of the Jawaharnagar Police team. Proposals have been initiated to commend the officers involved.
This case highlights the professional investigation and persistence of the police in uncovering a concealed and heinous crime, ensuring justice for the victim.
