Bathinda, Punjab: In a significant step towards strengthening the fight against drug trafficking, the Bathinda Police Drug Disposal Cell successfully destroyed a large quantity of narcotic substances seized in 225 cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
During the disposal drive, the police safely destroyed 2.984 kg and 189 mg of heroin, 146.600 kg of poppy husk, 4,505 intoxicating tablets, and 11.532 kg of cannabis (ganja) using an authorized incineration facility. The destruction was carried out in accordance with prescribed legal procedures to ensure that the seized contraband could not re-enter the illegal drug market.
The disposal process was conducted in the presence of senior police officers, including the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Bathinda, SP (City), Bathinda, and DSP (Headquarters), Bathinda, ensuring transparency and strict compliance with statutory guidelines.
The successful destruction of narcotic substances reflects the Bathinda Police’s unwavering commitment to enforcing the NDPS Act and preventing the circulation of illegal drugs. By systematically disposing of seized contraband, the police have reinforced their zero-tolerance approach against drug trafficking and substance abuse.
This initiative sends a strong message that narcotics-related offences will be dealt with firmly and that the police remain dedicated to protecting society, especially the youth, from the harmful effects of illegal drugs while working towards a safer and drug-free community.
