New Delhi: In a case pertaining to attempt to rob money through ATM, the police have arrested three persons. They have been allegedly robbing people by cloning their debit cards, the police said on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Mr. Jasmeet Singh said that the accused have been caught in the act on Monday. The persons involved in the crime have been identified as Manoj Kumar Sharma, Amit Kumar and Rohit Mondal.
The police said that the incident occurred when the complainant, Deepak Sachchar was on his way to an ATM near Preet Vihar in order to withdraw money. As he was going towards the ATM he met three men who asked him where he was going to and then requested him to show his ATM card. Mr. Sachchar showed his RBL bank card and one among the three men exchanged his ATM with an Axis bank card. On noticing this, he raised an alarm following which they were nabbed by the local police.
The police said that the accused told them when they were being interrogated that the accused would get card numbers and the PIN from a person in Jharkhand’s Jamtara and then they would prepare plastic cards. Later they would visit ATM centers with their prepared ATMs and withdraw cash.
