Jalandhar: On Thursday, Punjab Police apprehended two arms smugglers and uncovered an inter-state weapon trafficking network. Acting on intelligence, the counter-intelligence team of Jalandhar police seized six illegal pistols and seven magazines. According to Director General of Police (DGP) Mr. Gaurav Yadav, the operation revealed a well-established racket that had managed to procure four significant weapon shipments in the past six months.
Two key members of the operation were arrested for supplying weapons to gangsters in the border state, which is gearing up for elections. A case has been filed under the Arms Act at the state special operation cell (SSOC) in Amritsar, and investigations are ongoing to trace both the suppliers and recipients. The DGP emphasized that severe measures would be taken against those involved in organized crime and illegal arms trade networks.
