Palakkad: In Palakkad, the Vadakancheri police have apprehended individuals involved in thefts at the Supplyco Super Market near the Vadakancheri bus stand in March and June 2023. The arrests were made following a thorough scientific investigation spanning 10 months. The suspects, who executed the thefts without leaving any traces, were tracked down through meticulous observation and inquiry. Among those arrested are Haridas.KP (29) from Vandazhi, Palakkad district, and Santhosh (35) from Malampuzha, Palakkad. The YAMAHA MT vehicle used in the theft had been stolen from a showroom in December 2022 under the guise of a test drive. The stolen vehicle from Nenmara was equipped with a fake number plate from Kanjirapilli, and its color was changed to avoid detection. Haridas, originally preparing for the civil service examination, turned to theft for quick financial gain. The second accused, Santosh, has a history of being involved in a case related to assaulting his wife.
The duo planned the robbery while the second accused was out on bail, with the intention of stealing money from government financial institutions. The Vadakancheri police investigation revealed that these individuals were also responsible for the theft at Chandranagar beverage. Additionally, the MT vehicle stolen from Nenmara was recovered by the police. Ongoing investigations aim to determine if the suspects were involved in more cases. Under the guidance of Palakkad District Police Chief Mr. Anand IPS Alathur DySP Mr. R. Ashok , formed a special investigation team led by him which successfully apprehended the accused through precise and meticulous investigative work, despite the absence of clear CCTV footage or other evidence. The team included Vadakancheri Inspector Mr. Benny KP, SI Mr. Jeeshmon Varghese, Kollangode SI Mr. Sujith P, GSI Prasannan, GSI Santosh Kumar, ASI Devdas, ASI Ananthakrishnan, SCPO Maraya Pradish, Krishnadas, Blasan Jose, Dileep.D.
