Hyderabad City: In a bid to enhance the operational efficiency of the traffic wing and to review the ongoing operation “ROPE”, City Police Commissioner Mr. CV Anand IPS chaired a meeting with all traffic officers at conference hall in traffic complex. While analyzing the post-facto enforcement figures of operation ROPE, he said that stop line discipline and adherence to traffic signal, free left passage constitutes basic road sense and it has to be instilled through education and enforcement.
Addressing the new joinees in traffic wing, CP Mr. Anand reiterated that traffic duty is on the field job and stressed that senior officers should also be on field and visit multiple junctions to get first-hand information of the traffic flow, and to spot engineering changes at the junctions.
He explained the importance of keeping the carriage way clear and the positive impact on the city commuters and their quality of life. He instructed the traffic SHOs to focus on quality enforcement preceded by education campaigns, interactive meetings and cautioned them to exercise powers effectively.
“Any adverse reaction with motivated minds in the backend can be ignored and always analyze your actions on constructive criticism on the measures initiated in your jurisdictions. “Said the city Police Chief. “You have to devise your own strategy in your respective areas to improve traffic flow and initiate measures.” he added.
The meeting delved on strengthening infra at junctions, upgrading traffic umbrellas, welfare measures for traffic personnel, deploying new cranes in high density routes, providing communication sets etc., Several other administrative, finance and personnel deployment issues were also discussed in this meeting.
Towards the conclusion Police Commissioner urged the traffic officials to work with pride as any changes initiated would be impact 100 percent population in the state capital and instructed to standardize an induction training course for the new entrants into traffic. Later he unveiled the traffic action plan hand guide.
Prior to this Mr. Anand visited the Traffic Training institute in Goshamahal which has been instrumental in capacity building of police personnel through various course modules and conducting training, counseling sessions to the violators.
He inspected all the classrooms, traffic-park and addressed the home guards, which will be joining the traffic branch soon. “You must ensure that all the commuters observe traffic rules.” he said. The TTI staff briefed about the counseling sessions, Traffic Park and other infra details. Instruction was given to enhance the look and feel of the TTI and spike the educational activities through various forms.
