Anakapalli: Acting upon the directives issued by Anakapalli District SP Mr. KV Muralikrishna IPS, law enforcement authorities conducted extensive and meticulous raids throughout the district aimed at preventing the occurrence of illicit activities, including cockfights and gambling, during the Sankranti festival. These efforts resulted in the registration of a total of 62 cases.
Among the cases, 24 were specifically related to activities such as poker and ballata. The police executed arrests in connection with these cases, apprehending a total of 96 individuals. A significant amount of Rs. 93,090/- in cash was seized during the operations targeting poker and ballata offenses.
Furthermore, the crackdown extended to chicken betting, where 38 cases were registered. The diligent efforts of the District Police in this regard led to the arrest of 114 individuals. During the course of these operations, a substantial amount of Rs. 48,110/- in cash was confiscated. Additionally, 94 betting chickens were seized as part of the measures to curb illegal betting practices.
In summary, the comprehensive actions taken by the police, under the leadership of SP Shri KV Muralikrishna IPS, resulted in a total of 62 cases being registered, with arrests made, cash seized, and betting chickens confiscated, addressing a range of illicit activities during the Sankranti festival in Anakapalli District.
