Rachakonda: On 11.06.2021 at evening hours, acting on specific information, the sleuths of Special Operations Team (SOT), Bhongir Zone along with the Police Vanasthalipuram, and officials of the agriculture department conducted a surprise and joint raid and apprehended a person namely Kakani Venkataramana Babu at his shop located at Chinthalkunta under the limits of Vanasthalipuram and seized 2.5 quintals of illegally stored BT-2 cottonseed, 10 Kilograms of Spurious BT-3 Cottonseed, 3 quintals of unprocessed groundnut and packing equipment, all worth about Rs.6.00.000/- from his possession. A case was registered at Vanasthalipuram Police Station. The arrested accused were identified as Kakani Venkataramana Babu(58) and Veeranjaneyulu(45). Veeranjaneyulu is absconding.
The seized materials include (17) Plastic bags containing (527) packets of BT-2 cotton seed branded as Surekha and Sri Sai, each packet weighing about (450) grams and total weighing about (2.5) quintals, (10) KGs of spurious BT-3 cottonseed, (5) Bags of raw groundnut total weighing about (2) quintals, one packing machine, one weighing machine and one sewing machine and the total worth of seized property is Rs.6,00,000/-
Kakani Venkataramana Babu has been running a seed business styled as M/s Shree Kamakshi Seeds at Road No.12, Venkataramana colony, Chinthalkunta under the limits of Vanasthalipuram as he obtained dealership from Sahaja Crop signs of Kurnool City. There are clear guidelines from the Government of Telangana State not to black-market any seed. However, instead of selling the approved seed under the guidelines of the Government, for some months, Kakani Venkataramana Babu used to store the BT-2 cotton seed illegally in his godown with a view to black-market the same as per his feasibility. Apart from it, he also used to sell spurious and unpermitted BT-3 cotton, unprocessed and unpermitted groundnut to the gullible farmers in order to earn easy money. Kakani Venkataramana Babu has no license under Seed Act 1966 to manufacture or sell any seed.
On 11.06.2021 at evening hours, on receipt of specific information, the sleuths of Special Operations Team (SOT), Bhongir Zone along with Police of Vanasthalipuram Police Station with the help of Agriculture officials conducted a surprise raid on the godown of Kakani Venkataraman Babu located at Chinthalkunta and caught him in possession of (2.5) quintals of illegally stored BT-2 cottonseed, (10) Kilograms of Spurious BT-3 Cottonseed, (3) quintals of unprocessed groundnut and packing equipment. The officers seized the entire material from his possession and handed it over to Vanasthalipuram Police Station for further proceedings.
The above arrests were made under the supervision of Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat, IPS. Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, Mr. G.Sudheer Babu, IPS, Addl. Commissioner of Police, Rachakanda, Mr. Sunpreeth Singh, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, LB Nagar Zone and under the guidance of Mr. J. Surender Reddy, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Operations Team, Rachakanda, with the presence of Mandal Agricultural Officer, by Mr. Murali Mohan, Inspector of Police, Vanasthalipuram Police Station, Mr. B.Sathyanarayana, Inspector of Police SOT, Mr. Manmadha Kumar Sub-Inspector of Police and staff of Special Operations Team, Bhongir zone, Rachakonda.
