Manipur, Imphal East, April 19: In a significant breakthrough, security forces arrested two active members of the proscribed outfit UNLF (Pambei) from Napetpalli Andro Road near Nongdam village under Lamlai Police Station, Imphal East District.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Yumnam Naocha Singh @ Mengba (24) and Heikrujam Bidyachandra Singh @ Bruce (28). Both were reportedly involved in extortion activities, collecting illegal funds from vehicles plying along the Napetpalli Andro Road to support their outfit’s operations.
During the operation, security personnel recovered the following items from their possession: Two mobile phones, Two sling bags, One wallet containing Rs.3,630, and One identity card.
The swift and strategic action by the security forces is being hailed as a major step towards curbing extortion and insurgent activity in the region. Further investigation is underway to uncover more details about their network and operations.
