Vijyawada: The Vijyawada police arrested three persons attached to a dacoit gang in a major breakthrough operation, which was conducted by the Central Crime Station (CCS) police. During the operation, a juvenile was also taken into custody. During the operation, the police recovered from the accused gold ornaments weighing 1,258 grams, which is worth Rs.54.60 lakh and silver jewellery weighing 17.2 kg, which is valued at Rs.9.65 lakh. The police also seized a laptop and two cars. In connection with the apprehension of the accused, Police Commissioner Mr. Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, while addressing a press meet on Friday said that the gang members were wanted by the police in connection with hundreds of cases in AP and Telangana. The gang members were identified as Bhukya Nagaraju Naik, who belonged to A. Kondur village of Krishna district, Pulletikurthi Umamaheswara Rao belonging to Old Guntur and Banavath Raja belonging to Vissannapet mandal of Krishna district. The juvenile arrested aged 16 was involved in two offences, Mr. Tirumala Rao said. Mr. Tirumala Rao said that the police suspect that the two members of the gang are currently lodged in Visakhapatnam Central Prison. The suspected persons are Guttikonda Pavan Kumar and Nallamothu Suresh. One of the suspected member, Pavan Kumar is an engineering graduate. The offences committed by the gang were robberies and the number of robberies committed in Vijavada are five, in West Godavari, three and one each in Rajamahendravaram and Guntur districts. The gang was committing the offences for a period of 15 years. Three members of the gang, Nagaraju Naik, Umamaheswara Rao and Banavath Raju, earlier underwent imprisonment in connection with some theft cases. When a vehicle check was being conducted at Kandrika village on Friday, which was led by CCS Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr. K. Prakasa Rao stopped two cars in which the accused were travelling for the purpose of checking and then arrested them. The custody of the accused will be sought by the investigating officers after the accused have been producing before the court. Deputy Commissioner of Police Ms. B. Rajakumari was also among who were present. ]]>
