Kochi City: The four children of a Patna native, all of whom were admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at Ernakulam General Hospital, found themselves at Kochi City Women’s Station in the morning, left without proper guardianship. Faced with the challenge of nourishing the 4-month-old infant among them, Mrs. Arya, a compassionate woman, took the initiative after ensuring that the other three siblings were fed. In a remarkable display of maternal care, Mrs. Arya, though not biologically related, assumed the role of the baby’s mother by offering her own breast milk and gently placing it on the infant’s tongue.
This act exemplifies Mrs. Arya’s selfless dedication to the well-being of the children, transcending biological ties to provide essential care. Subsequently, recognizing the need for a more structured environment, the authorities decided to transfer the children to Shishu Bhavan, where they could receive comprehensive support and care. This unfolding narrative not only underscores the challenges faced by these vulnerable children but also highlights the heartwarming response of individuals like Mrs. Arya, who go above and beyond to ensure the welfare of those in need.
