Hyderabad City, Telangana: In a major anti-narcotics operation, the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) busted a nationwide ganja trafficking syndicate operating from Jharkhand and supplying narcotic contraband across India through Speed Post and courier services. The operation led to the arrest of the kingpin, Satyam Misra, while four associates are absconding.
The syndicate sourced and cultivated ganja in Jharkhand, accepted orders through WhatsApp and social media, collected payments via UPI, and dispatched parcels disguised as medicines to customers in 21 States, including Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Bengaluru. The network processed 80–100 orders daily, generating an estimated ₹4–5 crore annually.
The racket was uncovered after H-NEW intercepted ganja parcels destined for Hyderabad. Two local purchasers were arrested, 2 kg of ganja was seized, and separate cases were registered at Gudimalkapur and S.R. Nagar Police Stations.
The investigation revealed the misuse of postal and courier services for narcotics trafficking. Hyderabad City Police will recommend enhanced screening of postal consignments and has intensified surveillance of courier agencies. Citizens are urged to report any suspicious drug-related activity by calling Dial 100 or the H-NEW Helpline: 8712661601.
