Hyderabad City, Telangana: In a proactive initiative to strengthen cyber safety and prevent online fraud, the Rajendranagar Zone Police, Hyderabad, conducted a large-scale Cyber Crime Awareness Programme at the Telangana State Institute of Rural Development (TGIRD), educating 520 participants from diverse sectors.
The programme was led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) S. Sreenivas, IPS, and attended by senior police officers, including the Assistant Commissioner of Police, the Inspector of Rajendranagar Police Station, and officials from the Zonal Cyber Cell. Participants included State Resource Persons from SCERT, Mandal Parishad Development Officers (MPDOs), and professionals from the agriculture sector.
During the session, the DCP explained the latest cybercrime tactics, including digital arrest scams, fake investment schemes, fraudulent job offers, phishing attacks, and UPI payment frauds. He encouraged participants to follow safe online practices and stressed the importance of reporting cyber financial fraud immediately by calling the National Cyber Crime Helpline (1930) within the critical “Golden Hour” to improve the chances of freezing fraudulent transactions and recovering lost money.
The DCP also urged participants to become “Cyber Safety Ambassadors” by spreading cyber awareness within their departments, educational institutions, and rural communities. This multiplier approach aims to build stronger public awareness and create a resilient, digitally secure society.
The initiative reflects Hyderabad City Police’s commitment to preventive policing through public education, empowering citizens with the knowledge needed to identify cyber threats, protect themselves online, and contribute to a safer digital environment.
