Thrissur City, Kerala: In a commendable display of prompt response, coordination and dedication, the Thrissur City Police Control Room Vehicle No. 4 played a crucial role in tracing a missing BSF constable and ensuring his safe recovery.
A message was received at the BSF office at Kainoor, Thrissur, around 10 a.m., reporting that a BSF constable, a native of Uttarakhand who was serving in Thiruvananthapuram, was missing. It was also suspected that he might be in the Thrissur area. Acting without delay, BSF Sub-Inspector Suresh, accompanied by Head Constable Sumesh and Constable Hameem Akhtar, immediately proceeded to investigate the matter.
The BSF team contacted Anthikad Police Station to verify the available information. After receiving confirmation that the missing constable was likely in Thrissur, the team proceeded to the city to intensify the search.
On reaching Thrissur, the BSF team encountered Control Room Vehicle No. 4 and immediately informed Assistant Sub-Inspector Bindu and Civil Police Officers Binu Thomas and Arup about the situation. Recognising the urgency of the matter, ASI Bindu promptly alerted the Thrissur City Police Control Room and coordinated with the Cyber Cell to establish the missing person’s latest location.
The Cyber Cell analysis indicated that the person’s location was within Thrissur city. Based on this information, the police initially began checking nearby lodges and other possible locations where he might have taken shelter. During the course of the search, the team received further indications that the location could be the railway station.
Considering the seriousness of the situation, particularly the information that the missing BSF constable was reportedly facing financial difficulties, the police intensified their efforts and proceeded towards the railway station. The officers systematically searched the platforms and surrounding areas.
After checking several locations and platforms, the police finally located the missing BSF constable standing on Platform No. 1 of Thrissur Railway Station.
The successful tracing of the constable brought immense relief to the BSF team. The police officers immediately ensured his safety and provided reassurance and support. The emotional moment reflected the importance of timely police intervention, effective use of technology and close coordination between law-enforcement agencies.
The BSF team expressed their sincere appreciation to ASI Bindu, CPOs Binu Thomas and Arup, and the entire Thrissur City Control Room team for their timely assistance and dedicated efforts in locating the missing constable.
Before leaving, the BSF Sub-Inspector and his team thanked the police personnel and conveyed their gratitude, saying, “Thank you, Kerala Police.”
The incident stands as a fine example of inter-agency coordination, quick information sharing, effective use of cyber-location assistance and the commitment of police personnel to safeguarding lives. The timely intervention by the Thrissur City Police helped bring a safe and reassuring conclusion to the search for the missing BSF constable.
