<![CDATA[A 25-year-old south Delhi-based businessman, who was allegedly abducted by two of his former employees and their associates on January 1, was rescued four days later by Crime Branch officers. Three of the four accused have been arrested, by the police. The accused used the victim’s mobile phone to make a ransom call to his father on January 1. demanding Rs.5 crore for his safe release, they warned the father against approaching the police. However, the businessman’s father sought help and the case was taken up by the Crime Branch. Meanwhile, the father received a call from the abductors instructing the family to pick up the victim’s car from a specific location. The police told that the accused used the victim’s phone to contact his family throughout the episode. Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Mr. Alok Kumar told they started investigating the possible source of information used by the accused to learn the whereabouts of the victim. According to Mr. Alok Kumar(JCP), Technical surveillance revealed that the victim was being followed by two men, including a former employee. This helped the police identify two of the accused.The police were unable to trace the exact location where the victim was being held hostage. In the meantime, the ransom was reduced from ₹5 crore to ₹4 crore. To ensure the safety of the businessman, the police allowed the victim’s father to drop the ransom amount at a particular location in south Delhi on January 6. Mr. Kumar told that a controlled operation supervised by Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Joy Tirkey with 120 officers was undertaken, wherein the police allowed the transaction to take place. The accused, who released the 25-year-old at 1.30 a.m. on January 6 near a hotel in south Delhi, were followed by the officers. Since two of them had already been identified, raids were conducted and one of them was arrested. “Rahul alias Sumit Singh, a former employee of the victim, was arrested from Faridabad. Following his arrest, his associates Sunil and Ghanshyam were nabbed. All three are residents of east Delhi and had held the victim captive at an apartment in the same area,” Mr. Kumar told, adding that one of the accused is still at large. The police recovered Rs.,3.96 crore and suspect that the rest of the money is with the absconding accused.]]>
