Ahmedabad City, Gujarat: Marking the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26 June, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) organized a large-scale anti-drug awareness programme and cyclothon at the Ahmedabad City Riverfront, reinforcing the commitment of the police to building a drug-free society.
The event witnessed the presence of the Director General of Police (DGP), the Ahmedabad City Police Commissioner, and other senior police officials, who joined citizens and participants in the cyclothon to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of prevention through community participation.
Flagging off the cyclothon, the DGP emphasized that the fight against drugs is not merely a law enforcement responsibility but a collective social mission. In the message delivered on the occasion, the DGP stated that guiding young people towards healthy, addiction-free lives requires sustained awareness, community engagement, and active public support. The DGP also highlighted that strong cooperation between citizens and the police is essential to creating a drug-free society, and awareness initiatives such as cyclothons play a vital role in inspiring youth to make positive life choices.
The participation of senior police leadership alongside members of the public demonstrated the police force’s proactive approach to crime prevention through education and outreach. By combining public engagement with awareness campaigns, the programme strengthened the message that preventing drug abuse begins with informed communities and united action.
