Warangal, Telangana: Warangal Police Commissioner Sunpreet Singh stated that special measures are being implemented to control crime within the Warangal Police Commissionerate limits, with public safety as the primary objective. He urged the public to immediately inform the police if they notice any unknown or suspicious persons in their neighborhoods. On Tuesday, the Police Commissioner personally inspected the checks being conducted on suspicious individuals by the CCS (Crime Control Squad) police at the Kazipet Railway Station. He actively participated in the inspections and reviewed the performance of the police personnel. Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner noted that police investigations have revealed that criminals from other states—particularly from North India—are arriving in Warangal city to commit offenses such as house burglaries, chain snatchings, and other property crimes. He explained that since the Warangal and Kazipet railway stations serve as major junctions connecting various states across the country, criminals travel here by train, commit crimes, and subsequently return to their home states.
To curb such crimes, he stated that four special teams have been constituted under the supervision of the CCS police—an initiative unique in the state. He mentioned that two of these teams are operating at the Warangal railway station and the other two at the Kazipet railway station, working in coordination with the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF). He stated that these special teams are identifying suspicious individuals traveling on trains arriving from various parts of the country—particularly from North India—and conducting thorough checks of both the individuals and their luggage. He explained that they are collecting personal details, fingerprints, and photographs, and cross-referencing this information with modern police databases using facial recognition technology.
He noted that if records indicate a person has a history of criminal activity, the relevant details become instantly available through the technical equipment used by the police. In such instances, the teams immediately take the individual into custody and transfer them to the police station for further questioning.
The Commissioner added that details of suspicious persons gathered during these checks are being documented and preserved. He further mentioned that each four-member special team operates in shifts, maintaining constant vigilance over the movements of interstate criminals.
Officials who participated in these checks included Additional DCP (Crime) Balaswamy, ACP Sadayya, GRP DSP Krupakar, CCS Inspector Raghavender, Kazipet Inspector Shyam Sundar, GRP Inspector Naresh Kumar, and SI Abhinav, along with other police personnel.
