Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh: In a proactive effort to enhance road safety and improve traffic management, Srikakulam District Police, in coordination with the district administration, initiated measures to address traffic congestion and remove encroachments along the National Highway at Ranasthalam.
During a joint field inspection, District Collector Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar and District Superintendent of Police K.V. Maheshwara Reddy, IPS, reviewed the ongoing flyover construction and assessed traffic bottlenecks affecting commuters. They directed officials to take immediate action to clear encroachments on the highway and implement measures to ensure the smooth movement of vehicles.
To improve traffic flow and passenger safety, the authorities instructed officials to identify locations for new bus shelters, prevent buses from stopping on the main carriageway, prohibit vehicle parking on service roads, and construct proper drainage along the highway corridor. They also stressed the need to accelerate the flyover project to minimize inconvenience to the public.
The District SP emphasized coordinated action among police, revenue, and highway authorities to reduce accidents and provide safer, more efficient travel for motorists. The inspection also involved officials from the National Highways Authority, the Revenue Department, and the Police Department, highlighting a collaborative approach to public safety.
This initiative reflects the commitment of Srikakulam Police to improving road infrastructure, easing traffic congestion, and ensuring a safer commuting experience through effective inter-departmental coordination and proactive policing.
