Hyderabad, Telangana: In a major breakthrough, the Begumpet Police Station of the Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate apprehended two habitual offenders and recovered stolen property worth ₹40 lakh, including gold ornaments, mobile phones, and cash.
Brief Facts of the Case
On 16.02.2026, Smt. M. Anuradha (60), a resident of Begumpet, lodged a complaint stating that unknown persons had broken open her house lock and committed theft while she was away attending a family function. Upon returning, she found the house ransacked and valuables missing, including multiple gold ornaments and ₹60,000 in cash.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered under Crime No. 96/2026 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and investigation was taken up.
Investigation & Arrest
During the course of investigation, on 21.02.2026, the Begumpet Crime Team apprehended two accused persons:
Bisayi Pradeep (25), a private employee and previously involved in a property offence case of Begumpet Police Station.
Edla Praveen Kumar (32), a labourer and previously involved in a property offence case of Film Nagar Police Station.
Police recovered 235 grams of gold ornaments related to the case, one OnePlus mobile phone, one Realme mobile phone, and ₹65,000 in cash. The total recovered property is valued at approximately ₹40 lakh.
Supervision
The operation was carried out under the supervision of DCP Malkajgiri Ch. Sridhar, ACP Begumpet Division P. Gopalakrishna Murthy, and SHO Begumpet P. Saidulu. The investigation team included SIs K. Sachdhanandham and Ch. Sravan Kumar, along with the Crime Staff of Begumpet Police Station, with support from the CCS Cantonment Team led by Inspector Narsimha Rao.
Police officials reiterated their commitment to curbing property offences and ensuring the safety and security of citizens.

To prevent property offences, residents are advised to:
- Properly lock all doors, windows, and grills before leaving home.
- Avoid locking main gates/grills from outside in a manner indicating absence.
- Ensure CCTV cameras and lighting in common areas are functional.
- Inform neighbours or security staff during long absences.
- Avoid accumulation of newspapers or parcels outside the house.
- Never hide spare keys outside.
- Refrain from sharing travel plans on social media.
- Store valuables securely in lockers.
- Report suspicious activity immediately to police.
- Maintain proper visitor entries for delivery and service personnel.
